How to get an appointment? Simply text their number at +63-985-400-0999 3 days before your desired schedule. Example, you want to have your check up on Sunday, then you should text them on Thursday. They do not respond immediately so just wait. You will get a response within the day or the next day.

Where to Park:

There are vacant parking spaces on the streets near the TCM clinic. You will see park attendants waiting. Sometimes, we park in David's Tea House. They require that you eat or buy from their store for a free parking at a certain number of hours. I also read that you can park in Binondo Church and just walk to the clinic.

Tips for your TCM appointment:

The queue is quite long but it is better to be there on your scheduled appointment. The staff calls the patients by batch (e.g. 8am, 8:30am schedule and so on).  They will give you a number and you have to wait for the number to be called.

If you are late and if the staff already called the names for your schedule, do not worry, they will call again the names of those who were not there on their schedule.

If you prefer to be checked by one specific doctor (Dr. Ci Shou Tan, Dr. John Tan or Dr. James Tan), you will have to inform the staff during the distribution of the numbers.

For those who are very sick and cannot come up to the second floor, they are advised to wait downstairs for Doctors Tan before 8am. The earlier the better.

During the check up, the doctors will check your pulses - right and left and your tongue. They will tell you their findings and/ or ask you about your condition. You will also be asked if you wanted tablets or tea (laga).

The doctor will then write his prescription which is in Chinese and once they hand it to you, you write down your name. This is to ensure that when you go to Ching Tay Chinese Drug Store, your prescription will not get lost.

The TCM doctors will also give you a paper listing down the food that you need to avoid for your specific illness. Make sure you follow the list.

  • Matagal pakuluin (it takes a long time to boil)
  • Mapait ang lasa (it tastes bitter)
  • Mas mabisang lunas (more effective)

  • Di niluluto (no cooking involved)
  • Madaling inumin (easy to take)
  • Walang lasa (no taste)
  • Mas mabagal bago umepekto (it takes a long time to take effect)

What to bring:

Money - they charge P500 for the check up. During our first visit the tea good for 3 days is only around P500. According to what we heard, the tea after the first check up is for detoxification or cleansing only. You will have to go back after a week for another batch of tea. The next week, we were prescribed with tea good for 5 or 7 days. Other people buy more than 5 or 7 packs especially if they are not able to visit the clinic after a week. Our tea for 7 days costs around P1,300+.

TCM prescription - you need to bring this if it is not your first time to visit the clinic of Dr. Tan. You always need to bring the previous prescription.

Fan/ pamaypay - it could get hot during noontime so it is better to bring a fan.

Snacks - if you have not taken your meals. If you come in earlier than your schedule, you can just eat in restaurants nearby. Binondo is known for good Chinese restaurants.

Prescription/ lab tests from other doctors - I saw people bringing these to the clinic but when I am inside the room of the doctors, I don't see that these documents checked by the TCM doctors. They only check your pulses and your tongue.

They sell water for only P20 or P10 depending on the brand.

2 restrooms are available in the clinic too for male and female.

I am not sure if the TCM doctors will accommodate check ups done via video call for those who live far or outside the Philippines. I heard that if you plan to do that, you still have to send someone to queue for you. They will be accommodated last - meaning, when all patients in the clinic are done with their check up. If you are living abroad, check also how you can ship the tea on a weekly basis.

Personally, I am very grateful to have known the TCM of the three Doctors Tan. They are such a great blessing to humanity especially the sick Filipino people. Our experience from drinking their prescribed tea is very good. It helped my family's health issues. We will keep coming to Dr. Ci Shou Tan, Dr. John Tan and Dr. James Tan as long as we live.
