BIODATA for Homeschoolers and Job Applicants

Biodata is a very simple document that we tend to forget because of its simplicity. We are now geared towards creating resumes and even interactive ones.

According to www.dictionary.com a BIODATA is a noun that means information regarding an individual's education and work history, especially in the context of a selection process.

Why is biodata important?

A. It aids in summarizing details you need to create a comprehensive resume.

B. For people who do not have extensive education and work experience, this is easier to fill out.

C. For students - regular and homeschooled ones, we can introduce this document as part of their life skills lessons. This is one of the skills they need to know. In my case, this came about when we attended a homeschool gala and my daughter befriended her seatmate. She was asked about her religion and she said that she is a Christian. Yes, we are a Christian but my daughter did not know the particular sect we belong to.

My daughter did not even know our phone numbers and our complete address so filling out the form is a great tool for her to know her personal information.

Of course, these students will encounter these forms in the future but for me it is great to introduce it to them so they come prepared.

What will you find in a Biodata? These are the common ones -

Personal data - including information on your spouse, children, siblings, etc.

Education

Job History

Character References

Organizations

Documentary numbers
